Visiting Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the capital and largest city of the Netherlands, located in the province of North Holland in the west of the country. Amsterdam is the 5th busiest tourist destination in Europe with more than 4.2 million international visitors. This number of visitors has been growing rapidly and steadily over the past decade. Due to this, there have been more new hotels in Amsterdam in recent years.

If you're visiting Amsterdam, then you must start with a visit to the Dam Square. On its western side you can see the Royal Palace and the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church). To the east is the National Monument, established to remember the victims of World War II. You should make your way to the main shopping street, Kalverstraat. Here you can find plenty of things to keep you amused, especially for the avid shoppers among you. As for accommodation, you may find a variety of choices for Amsterdam hotels that suit your travelling and budgetary needs.

Throughout the city, there are attractions which cater to the whole family. During a visit to Madame Tussauds, you may find yourself encountering one of your celebrity or historical heroes. Other than that, you may visit the Amsterdam Dungeon. For young children, a fun combination of entertainment and education can be found at science centre NEMO, where the VOC ship of the Maritime Museum is also docked. And, of course, Amsterdam's zoo, Artis, is popular with young and old all year round. Best of all, should you be travelling in a large group and require reasonably priced accommodation, there are plenty of cheap hotels in Amsterdam to choose from.

Enjoy you visit to Amsterdam!
